Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Prepare the marinade. To do this, mix soy sauce and olive oil. Add the spice "5 spices", star anise, and cinnamon stick to the liquid base. If you couldn't buy the "5 spices" seasoning, you can easily make it yourself. To do this, just grind together a little more than half a tablespoon of fennel seeds, 6 cloves, 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, and 20 Sichuan peppercorns.
3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 star anise, ½ stick cinnamon, 3 tbsp vegetable oil, 1.5 tsp seasoning
Generously coat the duck legs with the marinade.
2 pcs duck
When the thighs are completely "bathed" in the aromatic mixture, put them in a freezer bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. It is better to leave the meat to marinate for a whole day (or night).
Cut the plums in half and place them in a baking dish. Sprinkle the fruits with brown sugar and pour the marinade from the meat over them. Add the pepper. Cut the large pods into slices and place the small ones whole. Adjust the amount of pepper to taste. You can replace brown sugar with regular sugar.
8-10 pcs plum, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 pcs pepper
Place the well-marinated thighs on the plum halves, cover the dish with foil, and place it in an oven preheated to 170˚ C for 2-2.5 hours.
If you want to make the duck skin crispy, after 2 hours of baking, remove the legs, transfer them to a baking sheet, and return them to the oven, turning on the "grill" mode. Keep the meat under the grill for a few minutes until desired result is achieved.
Remove the large pieces of spices from the softened plums, and blend the remaining sauce until smooth and heat it in a saucepan before serving. Adjust the taste with sugar and soy sauce if necessary. Serve the sweet duck with rice or noodles. Enjoy your meal!
