Today we will make a chocolate puff pastry christmas tree. This dish will decorate any festive table and attract the attention of guests with its shape - a Christmas tree. It is very convenient to eat, tearing off improvised "branches" from the "tree". You can make a pie in the shape of a Christmas tree as an appetizer, adding sausage, cheese, small pieces of chicken to the filling. And for dessert, use chocolate, jam, apples, condensed milk.
Prepare everything you need. Buy ready-made dough or make it yourself. Take out the frozen dough for 30-40 minutes to thaw.
Grate the chocolate into shavings using any convenient method: you can grate it on a grater or use a food processor.
70 g chocolate
Roll out the puff pastry into a sheet about 2-3 millimeters thick. Its size is optional, depending on the expected dimensions of the finished pie. Mark the outline of the future Christmas tree with a toothpick.
250 g puff pastry
Sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
Cover with another sheet of puff pastry, press well. Use a pizza cutter or a regular knife to go along the border where the filling is placed.
Place two wooden skewers, thus marking the "trunk" of the future "tree". Cut the remaining parts on the sides into strips about 1.5-2 centimeters thick.
Carefully transfer to a baking sheet. Twist each strip into a spiral.
Brush with egg yolk, sprinkle the "trunk" with chia seeds. You can also use sesame or poppy seeds.
1 pc egg, 1 tsp chia seeds
Place in a preheated oven and bake at 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit) for 15-20 minutes. The surface should turn golden brown.
The puff pastry Christmas tree pie is ready. It can be served hot while the melted chocolate is still warm, or after it cools down.
