Prepare everything you need. If the bacon is fatty, do not use additional oil, if it is more meaty - there may not be enough fat from it to fry all the components.
Heat a frying pan, pour in a little vegetable oil. Put strips of bacon. Optionally, you can fry a few whole pieces, it will look good when serving, and cut some into small pieces, which will be sprinkled directly into the dish. Fry the bacon until crispy.
150 g bacon, 5 ml vegetable oil
In the same frying pan with the bacon fat, put the onion sliced into petals. Keep until golden brown spots appear.

Shred the red cabbage and add it to the onion. Add salt, ground pepper, smoked paprika.
400 g red cabbage, 1 pinch salt, 1 pinch pepper, ¼ tsp paprika
Fry, stirring, over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Then cover with a lid, reduce the heat to a minimum and simmer the dish for a quarter of an hour. Usually, no additional liquid is required, but if necessary, you can add a couple of tablespoons of water. Sprinkle with bacon.
Braised red cabbage with bacon is ready. When serving, garnish with whole strips of crispy bacon. Delicious both hot and cold.
