Fried mashed potato sticks
Today we are preparing an excellent alternative to French fries. It's much faster and easier to make, as frying takes just a few minutes. If you have a couple of boiled potatoes or leftover fried mashed potato sticks, you can quickly prepare crispy mashed potato sticks in just 10 minutes.
Equipment
- 1 mix bowl
- 1 grater
- 1 cellophane bag
- 1 rolling pin
- 1 frying pan
Ingredients
- 200 g potato
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- ยผ tsp salt
- for frying vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare everything necessary. Boil the potatoes in advance until soft. You can do it with their skins on, in the usual way, or use already prepared mashed potatoes.
- Grate the potatoes on a fine grater or mash them with a masher. It is better not to use a blender for this purpose.200 g potato
- Add the cornstarch, taking heaping tablespoons, and salt. At this stage, you can add any spices to taste.2 tbsp cornstarch, ยผ tsp salt
- Mix with your hands, the dough should come together into a ball and not fall apart into separate fragments.
- Place it in a plastic bag.
- Use a rolling pin to roll out the potato mass over the bag into an even layer about 3-4 millimeters thick. This can also be done on a board, but it’s much more convenient and easier in a bag.
- Cut the plastic bag, and slice the potato dough into strips of any length and width, as desired. For convenience, periodically dip the knife in starch.
- Fry the potato preparations in a sufficient amount of vegetable oil until a golden crust appears.for frying vegetable oil
- Lay them out on a paper towel.
- Mashed potato sticks are ready. They are best eaten immediately, as they are delicious and crispy when hot.
