  • Prepare the necessary ingredients. First, start cooking the rice. Once the water boils, add the rice and cook for about 10 minutes. It doesn’t need to be fully cooked as we will be adding the rest of the ingredients to the water later.

  • Prepare the fish. Remove the gills and cut into serving pieces.

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.

  • Next, the carrots. Peel and cut into cubes or slices. We prefer this shape for carrots, not grated. This way, all the components of the soup are roughly the same size. Cut the onion into cubes as well. Do not fry the vegetables.

  • After 10 minutes, add the carrots and onion to the soup. After it boils and 5 minutes have passed, add the potatoes. After the potatoes boil, add the fish. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste, add a bay leaf. Cook the soup until the fish is done, but no more than 10-15 minutes after it starts boiling. Don’t forget to remove the bay leaf after cooking is finished, otherwise the soup will taste bitter.
