Homemade ketchup recipe
Did you know that to make homemade ketchup recipe, you don't necessarily need to buy fresh tomatoes? A great option is to use canned tomatoes in their own juice. The main advantage of homemade ketchup is its naturalness compared to store-bought and the simplicity of preparation.
Equipment
- 1 frying pan
- 1 blender
- 1 garlic press
Ingredients
- 400 g tomato in its own juice
- 1 pc onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- ยฝ pc chili pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 1 pinch sugar
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 pinch basil
Instructions
- Prepare the necessary ingredients. If you don’t have basil, you can omit it or replace it with other spices to taste.
- In a high-sided pan, pour olive oil. Finely chop the onion and lightly fry it.1 tbsp olive oil, 1 pc onion

- Pour the tomatoes into a bowl and lightly mash with a fork. It is advisable to take a can of already peeled tomatoes or peel them beforehand. Put the mashed tomatoes in the pan to the onion.400 g tomato
- Mix, bring to a boil and simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes. The tomatoes do not contain a lot of liquid, so there is no need to evaporate it.
- Pour in lemon juice, add salt, sugar. The amount of sugar and lemon juice depends on the sweetness and acidity of the tomatoes used, adjust to taste. Blend the contents of the pan with an immersion blender until smooth.1 pinch salt, 1 pinch sugar, 2 tsp lemon juice
- Cool and serve. Homemade ketchup is so delicious that it can be eaten with almost anything, and also used as a sauce for making pizza.
