  • Pretzels are made with yeast dough. A mixer-dough hook helps with kneading. If kneading by hand, it will take at least 10 minutes to make the dough elastic. Sift the flour into a mixing bowl, add sugar and salt, as well as butter that has been at room temperature for at least half an hour.

  • Add yeast to cold milk, crushing it with your hands.

  • Pour the milk into the bowl with the flour and knead the dough.

  • The dough turned out quite dense. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, covering it with a towel.

  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll them into balls.

  • Then, flatten each ball with your hands into a tight disk and roll it into a roll.

  • From the roll, use both hands to roll out a rope with a thick middle and thin ends. Twist the ends of the rope twice.

  • Shape the pretzels by pressing the ends of the rope against the thicker part. Leave the finished pretzels for half an hour to rise. They don’t need to be covered. Then put the pretzels in the freezer for 20-25 minutes.

  • Boil a liter of water and add baking soda. Dip the chilled pretzels one by one into the boiling water for 10 seconds, then transfer them to a baking sheet.

  • Make a shallow longitudinal cut on the thicker part and sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt. Salt is most commonly used as a topping, but sometimes pretzels are sprinkled with sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, or nuts.

  • Place the baking sheet with the pretzels in a preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes at 200 ℃ until golden brown. The pretzels are ready using the classic recipe. Enjoy your meal!
