  • 4-5 pod cardamom
  • 10 g orange peel

  • Prepare everything you need. Pears need to be chosen hard and strong, dessert will not work from soft or damaged fruits. Wine is also to your taste. The recipe uses a lot of aromatic spices, you can choose not too expensive, from the middle price segment. The difference in taste will be insignificant. The amount of zest is indicated approximately. We used the dry zest of one small orange.

  • Pour in the wine and put it on the fire.

  • Wash the pears and peel off the skin meanwhile, leaving the tails. Trim the bottom a little and make sure that all the fruits will stand steadily on the plate.

  • Lower the pears into the boiling wine. Make the heating minimal. It doesn’t matter if the fruit is not completely covered, just periodically pour wine over the white areas with a spoon for a more uniform coloring.

  • After 7-8 minutes, turn the pears carefully, trying not to damage the pulp. On the other side, cook the same amount. The fruits should remain fairly firm. It's better to undercook a little here than to overdo it. Remove the finished pears on a plate and, if necessary, put the next batch in a saucepan.

  • During the cooking time, the volume of wine will decrease significantly, but it will still need to be boiled over low heat to the state of syrup.

  • Put the pears on a serving dish. Pour hot syrup on top, which will gather at the bottom of the plate. Garnish with mint, spices. Pears in wine are well complemented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
