Fried onion rings are a very popular snack in cafes and bars. And they can be easily and simply made at home in a frying pan. You only need a large onion and a simple batter. In just a couple of minutes, you can fry a whole plate of this delicious snack from just one bulb.

  • 1 tablespoon
  • 1 mixer optional whisk
  • 1 plastic bag

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pc onion large
  • 1 pc egg
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 50 ml water ice-cold
  • 3 tbsp wheat flour
  • ยผ tsp paprika ground
  • ยผ tsp garlic dried
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 300 ml vegetable oil for frying

  • Prepare everything necessary. Choose a large and even onion.

  • Peel the onion and cut into rings 4-5 millimeters thick. Separate into rings, they will be of different diameters.

  • For the batter, place sour cream, egg yolk, ground garlic, and paprika in a bowl. You can also use other spices to taste.

  • Mix, add flour, 2.5 tbsp heaped, leave the rest for breading.

  • Knead a thick dough. Pour in water.

  • Mix until smooth, it should flow off the fork in a ribbon.

  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg white with a pinch of salt into a stable foam. It will take a minute with a mixer, much longer by hand. Put half into the bowl with the dough.

  • Mix gently, trying to keep as many air bubbles as possible. Then introduce the remaining egg white. The batter will become noticeably fluffier and more porous.

  • Put the remaining 0.5 tbsp of flour in a plastic bag, add the onion rings. Shake to coat them with a thin layer of flour.

  • Using a fork, dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off.

  • Lay out in a frying pan with well-heated vegetable oil. Fry over medium heat until browned on both sides. Everything happens very quickly. The shell swells during this process.
