  • 600-700 ml meat broth or vegetable broth, water
  • 1 clove garlic optional
  • 2-3 pcs pepper

  • Rinse the barley, clean it from debris, and soak it in cold water at a ratio of 1 liter of liquid per 1 cup of grain. Soak for at least 4 hours, but preferably 8-10 hours.

  • Pour in water or broth, add salt and spices, cover with a lid, and place in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 180 ℃ and cook for 1 hour 20 minutes. Half an hour before it’s done, check the amount of liquid in the pot and add more if necessary.
