Barley porridge with meat
Barley porridge with meat cooked in the oven is delicious, nutritious, and crumbly. The secret to appetizing porridge lies in the preliminary soaking and subsequent rinsing of the grain to get rid of excess starch, which makes the dish sticky and slippery. Try to cook barley porridge with meat in the oven correctly, and it will become one of the family's favorites.

- 2 pot with a volume of 700 ml

Ingredients
- 200 g barley
- 250 g pork
- 80 g carrot
- 80 g onion
- 1 tsp salt heaped
- 2 pcs bay leaf
- 30 g butter
- 50 g vegetable oil
- 600-700 ml meat broth or vegetable broth, water
- 1 clove garlic optional
- 2-3 pcs pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the grain and the rest of the ingredients from the list.
- Rinse the barley, clean it from debris, and soak it in cold water at a ratio of 1 liter of liquid per 1 cup of grain. Soak for at least 4 hours, but preferably 8-10 hours.200 g barley
- Cut the meat into cubes.250 g pork
- Finely chop the onion and carrot.80 g carrot, 80 g onion
- Fry the meat and onion in vegetable oil.50 g vegetable oil
- Add carrot cubes and fry the vegetables with the meat for a few more minutes.
- Transfer the semi-cooked meat, onion, and carrot into pots preheated with hot water.
- Fry the soaked grain in vegetable oil with a piece of butter. This will make it even more crumbly or thick.30 g butter
- Transfer the barley into the pots with the meat and vegetables.
- Pour in water or broth, add salt and spices, cover with a lid, and place in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 180 โ and cook for 1 hour 20 minutes. Half an hour before it’s done, check the amount of liquid in the pot and add more if necessary.1 tsp salt, 2 pcs bay leaf, 600-700 ml meat broth, 1 clove garlic, 2-3 pcs pepper
- After the specified time, turn off the oven heating and leave the pots in place for another 20 minutes to stew. Then stir the contents of the pots and serve.
